Ego: Be Aware + Decide to Let Go

Ego

One of the hardest things to let go of is our ego. I am not exempt from it, believe me, but I do work on it everyday.

I am pretty sure you can identify when ego is acting up in others. It’s easier. But you know what I am talking about: those who always think they are right, who control and those who think and act like they are above other people.

The ‘ego’ affects how we interact with each other. When we’re constantly in conflict with others, look to the ego…I am certain that there you’ll find the root of the ‘problem’ but also your solution.

Deepak Chopra describes the three things the ego is doing all the time:

1) The need to control,

2) The need to be approved, and

3) The need to judge.

He says that we should be aware of them every time they come up and decide to let them go.

Easier said than done my man Deepak -I know.

Practicing mindfulness and meditation, however can help. It’s why reactivity serves no one. It’s toxic for you and the person on the receiving end.

It’s what we’ve heard so many times over the years that we should stop, take a breath and think before we act. Those 3 little things = mindfulness.

Only you can decide to go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue, no one else can do that for you. But know that you can reach bliss and choose joy.

It all starts with the choice of wanting to do so.

How do you practice mindfulness? Has your ego held you back? I’d love to hear from you.
